Profile

Charit and Rhyder's fullbody

Appearance

Rhyder is a tall, seadwelling fuchsia-blooded troll. Her hair is straight and extremely long, kept in a high pony tail. Small hairs curl around her forehead. She has tall horns that gently sweep inwards, and her left horn splits into two points halfway up. Her fin ears are big and tall. Rhyder's right eye is pink with a gold ring. Where her left eye should be, there are two smaller eyes, both a dull pink with a large scar running through them and down her face. She wears pink lipstick and has two small fangs. Rhyder's sign is tattooed onto her right wrist. She has long fuchsia nails and webbed fingers.

Rhyder is never seen without her small three-pointed crown. She also has a pair of gold tear-shaped earrings, and three simple gold bracelets, two on her left wrist. Her typical outfit is a halter top and a long skirt, both made of flowing pink fabrics, and black boots, all with gold accents.

Design Process

"Rhyder Waytar" is derived from Rider-Waite, the most recogniseable tarot deck.. The spelling of "Rhyder" is a reference to the Hydra, which Rhyder's lusus is based on. "Waytar" is meant to sound like "water". Rhyder's symbol is a simplified version of the flower that appeared on the card backs of the original Rider-Waite deck. Her damaged and split eyes and horn are meant to imply Rhyder's regenerative properties similar to the classical Hydra; she lost one horn and two more grew back in its place. The inclusion of The Empress card is also the whole reason she's a fuchsia blood.
