Edisup Mondow is a mutant-blooded fantroll based on The Hanged Man↗ and Death↗ tarot cards. Here is his Homestuck-style 2nd-person introduction:
"Your name is EDISUP MONDOW. Your pronouns are HE/HIM, but you’ve also been trying IT/ITS lately.
"You live in the DANGEROUS WOODS at the edge of town, where no one can see your SHITTY MUTANT BLOOD. Apparently, whatever jadeblood that took pity on you passed you off as a CERULEAN, which is how you got your COOL BUG LUSUS. Didn't come with a hive though. Your hobbies include COLLECTING OLD COINS, TYING KNOTS, and BUGWATCHING. There's not a lot to do out here. You do have a side gig BUILDING ROBOT PARTS for some CHILL SEADWELLER, but you never have enough materials on hand to do that shit for FUN.

Profile
Appearance
Edisup is a troll with gray skin and many scars, including a section of skin missing on his right cheek. His hair is thick with big coils, about shoulder length though most of it sticks up or sideways. Its uneven bangs are self-trimmed. Its left horn points straight up and the other bends at a right angle, crossing over the other. Edisup has pronounced eye bags, and his right eye is completely black. He can still see out of it, though not well.
Edisup wears a black hoodie with his sign on the chest and a patch on one elbow, ripped jeans, and a pair of black sneakers. One of the sneakers is so worn, the toe is missing, exposing his black socks. He has multiple silver and black ear piercings, as well as one silver snakebite. He used to have two.
Personality
Abilities
Edisup did express some telepathic abilites when younger, but it seems to have lost them. Edisup has an affinity for metalworking and robotics, mostly working from what junk it can salvage from the edge of town. On the occasion that he gets a job from their anonymous patron, nicer materials are provided.
Other Info
Edisup has a large beetle-like lusus, technically intended for a cerulean troll. Their relationship is uneasy due to Edisup not technically being cerulean. Luckily, the bug is contented scavenging on its own, and typically leaves Edisup alone. The two have a crudely-built hive in the woods near Falool's hive, which Edisup put together himself. It's surrounded by many bones, thanks to his lusus.

Design Process
"Edisup Mondow" was originally "upside down" backwards ("edispu nwod"). I rearranged and added some letters to make it more pronouncable. Edisup's sign is an upside down skull, referencing both of his cards, with a black eye on the same side as Edisup's eye. Its horns are crossed, similar to the iconic crossed legs on the Rider-Waite's Hanged Man card. The exposed section of skull on its cheek is a reference to the skull-faced depiction of Death on the Rider-Waite's Death card.
Trivia
- Edisup's association with coins is a reference to the practice of burying people with coins and other wealth, such as with Charon's obol↗.
- Originally, Edisup's typing quirk only turned specific letters upside down, switching d and p, w and m, and u and n. This was extremely difficult to understand and I hated typing it. All of these letters can still be found in Edisup's full name.
